The US left must realise quickly, they are now under a fascist autocracy.
The left is under attack. It has been for years. In Ireland, we saw politicians' family homes attacked, politicians harassed incessantly in-person and violent riots in Dublin that terrorised a migrant bus driver and every other migrant on the streets. Librarians were recorded and harassed, falsely accused in public of being groomers with small groups of street fascists attempting to overrule public access to education by their self-appointed vigilante terror tactics, by no vote and no authority. We realised very quickly, we needed to get organised, we needed to counter this menacing fascist presence on the streets with our inclusionary and protective presence.
Back to the US. I sense a tiredness in the US left. The left is split between moderate leftists v leftists/socialists, no different to any other country. However a disturbing trend, very evident with Biden's genocide on Palestinians in Gaza, is to see not alone the Democratic party deciding what minority to throw under the bus to appease their fascist overlords - a process that was already happening before they lost the presidential election. As Tony Groves from the Tortoise Shack Podcast says:
"Centrism" sets the table, fascists get to eat.
To see large scale US left alternative media pundits like The Young Turks (6m+ subscribers), set up an opposition to the Democratic party while re-creating the same politics of appeasement and working 'with' fascism which created this utter collapse of the party in the first place is exhausting. Must we ALL move to the right to appease fascists and Nazis, is that truly where the left is? What a disgrace.
Does this attitude go beyond the US? Of course it does.
It takes a lot of bravery to stand against fascism. The left in the US needs to dig deep to find it, and draw on what they have already achieved. They countered the pro-genocide Biden led Democratic party with such bravery, in such huge numbers. They braved assault, arrest, doxxing. They lost jobs. One professor suffered 9 broken ribs for the 'crime' of sitting on a lawn to support his students and oppose the US backed genocide in Gaza.

The past year+ has prepared you for this. Now you realise the truth behind the chant 'we are all Palestinians'. You probably already had. You are not powerless. You can fight this from within.
Build your community, build as broad coalitions as you can on the left. The moderates who are ready to join you must be welcomed with open arms. This is not a time to be divided, what you face will take everything you've got.
The people all over the world who stand with the Palestinian people are with you too, we always were. Be united, be one, fight this.
